"Just a guy living in a small town surrounded by a big forest."

Micheal Laverty lives in Sioux Lookout, Ontario with his wife, Natalie, and their two boys, Isaac and Mac. In 2012, he published Hands of the Tyrants, a novel about a CSIS agent who infiltrates an artists’ collective. His short stories have been published on several platforms including Feathertale.com and The Fiddlehead.

Micheal is an aspiring children’s picture book author; he has several manuscripts in development and would love to share one with you! He is also composing thought experiments inspired by episodes of The Twilight Zone and the works of his favourite author, Jorge Luis Borges.

Micheal is an English teacher at Sioux North High School and a Communications instructor for Confederation College. He is committed to the process of developing writers and creating communities of collaboration. Before returning to the field of education, Micheal worked at the Sioux Lookout Public Library for over a decade where he served as the CEO/Chief Librarian and the Assistant/Children’s Librarian.

Micheal coaches minor hockey and plays goalie in a men’s recreational league. He is waiting patiently for his beloved Montreal Canadiens to once again hoist the Stanely Cup. Micheal has over three decades of experience playing the guitar and dreams of releasing an album of original compositions one day.

A more comprehensive biography is under development.
